Base Rent Changes


Many of you may have heard of the base rent changes that are currently on the Test Server. If you haven't here is the basic breakdown for the rent changes on the low end of the prestige scale (the ones that we could probably afford):

Tiny Hidden Spot 8x8 0
Small Hidden Spot 8x12 20000
Hidden Spot 12x12 43000
Small Secret Location 12x16 65000

What does this mean for us?

Well, could mean several different things if the devs actually bring this to the production servers:

Our options include:

1.) Keeping our current base size and have no rent to pay. That's right.. zippo rent. (8x8)

2.) Adding three rooms to our base for about half the rent we are used to paying. (8x12)

3.) Adding a whopping five rooms for the same rent we are currently used to paying. (12x12)

4.) Adding *ahem* EIGHT rooms for a little more than we are currently used to paying. (12x16)

Factors to consider:

Our Bank

If you guys had told me, "Yo, Armored before you know it we'll be paying maintenance and have 2 mil in the bank..." I would have giggled, raised my eyebrows and said.. "Yeah.. you guys are silly..". Now all I can say is.. "Wow, you guys did it... aaaaawesome." My point being, you guys have helped bank up a nice savings of prestige which could help pay for quite a few adds to the base. Well done!

Low maintenance

I still am holding firm to the notion that the base should never be a strain or a stress to anyone in terms of paying rent. The final decision on which base size to go with will be deeply rooted in this idea.

Added features

There are still portals and workshops that I would love to be able to add to the base. In order to do so we would seriously need to beef up Control and add some Power, but it is quite attainable.

I would love to hear ideas and thoughts from other people regarding the base and the changes coming up in the possible rent decrease.

    I don't know if anyone has seen the Flame of Defiants base but I really like how their portals are set up. They are so easy to find. They have 2 rooms of portals, 4 in each all in one long row. Makes for very easy access and easy to find portals. I have a list of their portals in order on a scrap paper and I can figure out very easily which portal goes where. I think it would be great if we could set our portals up in this fashion. I don't really want a base so big that I get lost in.

    They also have an enormous base map. Much larger than ours. That 4x4 room which holds 4 portals is actually worth (4) 2x2 rooms in which we can hold 8 portals on our map. A little more messy in finding them, but much more efficient with use of space.

    However, if you think we should try to work with larger room size in for the entire base map, we certainly could look into that. We would probably not be able to add us much, but it would provide a less maze-like base.

    I've tried to organize it so that portals are in rows for ease of location.

    Just an idea. I'm all about ease of use. Don't really like mazey maps. But that's just my opinion. We can see what other people think. I like using the Defiants base because it's so easy to find where I want to go.

    Oooo.. just ran the numbers. I can make an 8x12 base with better control, more power another teleporter and swap out our two small workshops for two 3x3 workshops for 1.4 million. The teleport configuration would be 2 two teleport rooms right off the base entry on either side with the medbay right between them with access to both.
